#OmanPride: Last 2 days and then a one year wait for Muscat Festival

Muscat: With only two more days to go before the Muscat Festival 2017 comes to a close, the upcoming weekend is expected to witness a large number of visitors thronging the event. If you haven’t visited already, do so before it’s too late.
The last few days at the festival usually witness huge crowds, not only because people do not want to miss the cultural extravaganza, but also because a number of discounts are offered at the consumer exhibitions.
Prakash and his wife Sarita are regular visitors to the Muscat Festival, but this year, they haven’t visited yet. “We go to the Muscat Festival every year and love it, because you don’t normally get to experience such a cultural show elsewhere in Oman. It’s so beautiful.
However, we don’t usually visit until the last few days because a lot of discounts are offered at the consumer exhibition. We like to go there and buy some stuff since one gets a lot of fun things there.” Besides shopping, a number of other attractions are also up for grabs during these last couple of days.
Ruqaiya Al Shaqsi, a resident of Al Mawaleh, is excited about trying his hand at paintball. “I am going to the festival with my cousins this weekend to try out paintball. We have been planning to go for the last couple of weekends but things did not work out. Since it comes to a close this weekend, we will make it a priority to visit.”
Winnie, a Philippines’ national who works at a four star hotel in Muscat, will also visit the festival this weekend.
“My shift starts from 6 o’clock and finishes late in the night, so I haven’t really been able to visit the festival yet. Friday is my only off day, when I relax and go out with friends. However, this Friday I will be visiting the festival because I have only been here for less than a year and have never been to the Muscat Festival, though I have heard a lot about it.”
The festival features some very popular attractions, such as fireworks, electronic rides, a consumer exhibition area, a heritage village and a food court where you can try street cuisine from different countries. Numerous stage shows from Oman as well as other countries presented at the festivalare also worth watching. The festival will come to an end on February 11.
