Muscat: The Oman Automobile Association (OAA) is gearing up to host the joint rounds of Oman and the UAE Rotax Max Challenge rounds at the picturesque Muscat Speedway later this week.
This is for the third consecutive year the OAA is organising the Oman and the UAE Rotax Max Challenge rounds.
The coming weekend will see the first two rounds of Oman series and the seventh and eighth rounds of the UAE championship.
The first of the five-round Oman series and the seventh of the UAE event will take place on Friday while the Oman’s second round and eighth round of the UAE series are scheduled for Saturday making it an exciting weekend of action.
A total of 50 young racers, taking parting in various categories, are set to enthral the karting enthusiasts.
The Sultanate will be represented in both the events by young Omani talents Shihab Al Habsi, Mohammed Al Habsi, Abdulwahab Al Habsi, Abdullah Al Rawahi, Fahd Al Rawahi, Khalid Al Wahaibi and Anas Al Rawahi.
Meanwhile, OAA Manager Suleiman Al Rawahi said the Oman motorsports governing body ready for the big challenge.
“We are hosting these joint Oman and UAE Rotax Max Challenge rounds for the third consecutive year. During the last two years, we have received good response as well as all round praise for our work.”
“But still this year too it’s going to be a big challenge. We have to make sure the track and other facilties are ready. We also have to make sure other arrangements are in place as we will be hosting a large number of competitors and we will also be welcoming many fans,” he added.
Suleiman Al Rawahi stressed that OAA is continuing with their efforts to develop motorsport in Oman.
“It has been our endeavour to develop the sport. Today we are happy we have created a suitable climate for the young Omanis to practise the sport by providing proper facilities and the much-needed support,” he said.
