Images of worship: Tribal motifs of the Hijaz

Hijaz is the provenance of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the Islamic message. The designs and patterns in this era were influenced by the materials that were used to create fabrics and rugs. They sport a strong sense of colour that sets it apart from other designs. The patterns also carry motifs based on dynamic squares, horses and camel trappings, as well as traditional dresses and tent heads to name a few.
