Muscat: Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has dispelled rumours that any of its staff or commuting services were involved in the horrific accident in Ibri this morning.
“Sadly, it is reported that 18 people lost their lives and 14 others have been injured in the incident and our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased and injured,” said a statement from Mohamed Salmani, Corporate Health, Safety and Environment Manager at PDO.
According to Salmani, PDO emergency operations supported the authorities in their emergency management, with PDO fire crews playing a leading role in releasing trapped passengers, and PDO medical teams treating the casualties both at the location and in Fahud clinics.
“Our team also helped to transfer patients to hospitals in Nizwa and Ibri,” he added.
