Muscat: Led by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the Sultanate is playing an important and positive role in the settlement of dispute in Yemen, affirmed UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed.
The UN representative said that during his visits, he has seen witnessed the Sultanate’s support to the UN efforts for reaching a solution to the crisis in Yemen.
In a speech to ONA, he said that the Sultanate has provided all support to the Yemeni people, hosted them and gave them medical aid.
There are signs that Oman would host further meetings of the parties to the crisis in Yemen, the first of which was held in August 2015, following the failure of Geneva Conference. He also stated that his current visit to the Sultanate came as part of a tour to the region and in coordination with the UN Secretary - General.
