Muscat: The Khimji Ramdas International Scholarship under the Takatuf programme has given two bright young Omani students a wonderful opportunity to jumpstart their academic ambitions overseas.
Rashid Al Abri and Narjis Al Dhuhli from Buraimi and Rustaq recently bid adieu to family, friends and the Eshraqa team to board the 14-hour flight to their new educational campus at St. Michaels University School, Canada.
Nailesh Khimji, director, KR, had awarded the six-year scholarship to the two students earlier this year, as part of Eshraqa’s education focus, which strives to provide Omani youth with the best opportunities for higher education by giving them access to reputed institutions and academic programmes in Oman and abroad.
Wishing the students every success in their future endeavours, Nailesh Khimji, said, “We are very excited for the two candidates who represent the best talent from the group that was shortlisted for the programme. We wish them every success in their academic ambitions and hope they emerge in flying colours to pursue even greater opportunities. Education is one of the key pillars of Eshraqa; the other two are Health and Community Wellbeing. As part of the Education goals under Eshraqa, we provide opportunities through programmes like Khimji Ramdas International Scholarship to give a fillip to the academic aspirations of Oman’s talented youth. We also work at the grassroots level to support government schools by strengthening their infrastructure and their facilities in the Wilayats of Samail, Izki and Bidbid.”
The two students, Rashid and Narjis, will be pursuing their two years of high school education out of the six-year scholarship.
Thanking Eshraqa, Khimji Ramdas CSR Arm, for the opportunity, Rashid Al Abri said, “Before we depart on this important journey, I would like to thank Eshraqa for giving wings to my dreams for studying abroad. I am eager to commence the school year and hope to excel in all the activities scheduled.”
Nargis Al Dhuhli agreed to say, “I am indeed grateful to Eshraqa for believing in me and supporting my aspirations for higher education. I promise to embrace the opportunity and apply myself diligently to the programme.”
The Takatuf Scholarship Programme is part of Eshraqa’s focus on developing the youth and the education sector in Oman. As one the main sponsors of the scholarship, Eshraqa will finance two years of scholarship for these two Omani students to study at St. Michaels University School, Canada, after which they will be guided to gain admission in any of the leading colleges of the world for their next four years.
The Takatuf Scholarship programme was created to support the educational goals of the most motivated and ambitious Omani youth to develop their skills for the 21st century. The programme marks the beginning of a life-long journey of learning for these students as it equips them with employability tools and how to use these effects on their own. The scholarship is open to all students across the Sultanate, who is put through a series of assessment tests before being finally selected.
Eshraqa is a major supporter of the Takatuf International Scholarship Programme.
