Muscat: With an intention to support writers and support the promotion of Omani literature, Bait Al Zubair Foundation and Omani Society for Writers and Literati (OSWL) have signed a cultural cooperation agreement.
The agreement was signed between Hani M Al Zubair, director, The Zubair Corporation and the chairman of Zubair Automotive Group and Said bin Muhammad Al Saqlawi, president, Oman Association for Writers and Literati. Several writers, intellectuals and those connected with the cultural compass of the Sultanate attended the signing ceremony.
Bait Al Zubair Foundation, the cultural arm of The Zubair Corporation, has been steadfastly devoted to preserving and advancing Oman’s culture and continues to be a key player in this quest. The foundation manages the cultural space and develops projects relating to heritage, art, community, history and publishing.
Commenting on the agreement, Dr Mohammed bin Abdul Karim Al Shahi, general manager, Bait Al Zubair Foundation said, “Bait Al Zubair Foundation has been promoting Omani art and culture while fostering knowledge. This partnership reflects the cultural values that Bait Al Zubair Foundation seeks to impart. We aim to support each other to further strengthen the exchanges and cooperation in the field of culture and literature. We will use our synergy to add verve to the cultural scene in the country.”
He added, “We will work to create a conducive milieu for Omani writers and support them in the process of publishing, documenting, networking and printing. Writers will be given a platform to celebrate their cultural work. We hope that this agreement will be the first of the many between Bait Al Zubair Foundation and Omani Society for Writers and Literati that will encourage a sustainable relationship. We will work hard to strengthen the bonds between the people of Oman in the context of the country’s diverse and rich cultural heritage.”
Thanking the Zubair Corporation, Al Saqlawi said, “Bait Al Zubair Foundation has contributed immensely to the cultural and art scene in Oman. I am confident that the signing of the cooperation agreement between our association and Bait Al Zubair will promote the Omani cultural scene especially in the field of literature. This pact will strengthen cultural cooperation to enable Omani people to deepen their knowledge and appreciation of its heritage.”
This agreement highlights the role of Omani Society for Writers and Literati in activating the cultural movement in the Sultanate.
Bait Al Zubair has become one of the leading arts and cultural hubs in the country, supporting Omani artists to create, exhibit and explore their work as well as providing access to visitors annually to learn more about Omani heritage and arts.
