Registration for Indian schools' admission to start soon

Muscat: Online registration for admission to Indian schools in the capital area for the next academic year (2018-2019) will start from January 10, 2018, for classes KG I to IX, the Indian School Board has said.
The centralised admission system through online registration introduced by the Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman, has facilitated the entire admission process, making it convenient for parents and schools to take care of the rush for admissions.
Online registration for admissions is applicable to six Indian schools in the capital area – Indian School Muscat, Indian School Darsait, Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir, Indian School Al Ghubra, Indian School Al Seeb and Indian School Al Maabela.
The closing date for online registration is February 15, 2018.
Every year, the board receives more than 4,000 new applications for admissions in six Indian schools in the capital area, for classes KG I to IX.
In 2017, the board had received some 5,100 applications for admissions in the schools. With some 2,500 seats available every year, providing admissions to all the applicants is very challenging for the board. “However, we managed to provide admissions to all the candidates last year,” the official said.
Parents will be informed about the school allotment and admission dates. “The vacancy status will be updated after the first lot of admissions end, and wait-listed applicants will be considered for the second draw, which will be held later,” the official remarked.
The centralised admission system through online registration, which was introduced by the board of directors, has made the admission procedure simple for parents, as wells as school authorities, who had to face huge rush in the past.
“The objectives of online admission system are to facilitate parents with easy access to the information pertaining to admissions and allied matters. Parents can access and fill application forms and submit them online. They can also get to know the results of the selection process, and it thus makes the system transparent and hassle-free,” the board stated.
The total number of students in all Indian schools stands 45,000, with a sizeable number in six schools of the capital.
It has also been observed from the trend that the demand for seats is more in lower classes from KG I to standard II.
