Muscat: Bank Sohar has adopted a path of active learning for its staff to hone their skills and ensure that they maintain optimal levels of service efficiencies.
Recently, the bank enrolled four of its senior executives into a six-day training programme for banking and finance professionals titled ‘Leading Strategy Execution in Financial Services’ held in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The course was organised by Harvard Business School in association with Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies and Kuwait Institute of Banking Studies to focus primarily on strategy execution and leadership.
Commenting on Bank Sohar’s commitment towards maintaining high levels of efficiency among staff, Munira Abdulnabi Macki, GM – HR and Corporate Support said, “Bank Sohar strongly believes in learning and development, and it is this conviction that drives us to keep investing in the professional and personal well-being of our staff. The programme provided candidates with the concept of strategic management implementation and the importance of effective leadership within the organisation. Almost 50 participants from GCC based financial institutions attended the 6 days executive programme where they learnt of and benefitted from international case studies presented by Harvard Business School. In addition to banking and finance case studies, the curriculum included studies from other industries to diversify the learning experience of the candidates.
Recruitments into the programme were Mahira Saleh Al Raisi, AGM & head - Human Resources, Abdullah Ahmed Al Anbori, AGM and head - Information Technology, Ahmed Rashid Al Salmi, AGM & head - Product Development & Consumer Lending, and Fahad Al Hooti, District Manager of Muscat Governorate.

Bank Sohar’s Human Resources Division regularly conducts programmes to enhance competencies and skills of bank’s employees as well as continues to comprehensively train its employees in order to enhance their skills and competencies.
More to it, the bank has a dedicated learning centre located in Al Qurum, the department focuses on improving efficiency and productivity of staff across the bank’s branch network. Bank Sohar continues to comprehensively train its employees in order to enhance their skills and competencies on an ongoing basis. In 2017, the bank organised several training programmes that provided open spots for employees to attend.
