NBC organises open day for budding entrepreneurs

Muscat: An open day was held at the Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM) on Sunday to spread awareness about the role of the National Business Centre (NBC) and the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Riyada) incubators in offering Omani entrepreneurs a variety of valuable services.
The visitors were briefed on the services provided by NBC, which comes under Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) and was founded to facilitate and support the growth of investible ideas into successful businesses. The services include business development support and guidance, training and mentoring, access to markets and industry experts, and state-of-the-art office spaces, meeting rooms and presentation facilities.
Visitors were also briefed about the OMHUB platform, which was launched by the NBC earlier this year in cooperation with Oman Oil Company (OOC), Oman India Fertiliser Company (OMIFCO) and Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel).
The OMHUB stands on 456 square metres and is divided into a joint work area that can host 28 candidates, and an open gathering area. This platform is designed to provide entrepreneurs with an environment that can inspire and motivate them to build thriving businesses in the Sultanate.
The event also highlighted the Riyada, which was established as per Royal Decree No. 36/2013. The Riyada aims at developing small and medium enterprises; instilling a culture of entrepreneurship and self-employment among youth; strengthening the role of institutions by providing employment opportunities; assisting entrepreneurs to establish and implement their own projects; enhancing the competitiveness of existing institutions; and increasing the capacity of institutions to bring added value to the national economy, contribute to economic diversification, and support both innovation and the use of modern technologies.
The open day featured the success story of Faisal Al Yafei, founder of Innovision Engineering Consultancy, who stated that Innovision was a professionally managed multi-dimensional Omani consultancy providing engineering and project management services to the oil and gas, water and industrial sectors in Oman. He emphasised that the company was committed to creating value for its customers and growing further in the competitive market.
