Indian Social Club's Malayalam Wing to mark 20 years in Oman

Muscat: Indian Social Club's Malayalam Wing, is now preparing to celebrate its 20 years in the Sultanate in a grand way.
Established in 1996, the Malyalam Wing is one of the most active linguistic wings of the Indian Social Club Oman,and remains fully engaged throughout the year with cultural and community projects.
As a socio-cultural organization, it not only promotes the rich heritage and culture of India, but also provides high priority to social welfare and humanitarian servicesas part of its commitment to society. Even though the wing is 20 years old as being “Malayalam Wing”, it has a proven track record of 20-plus years serving the community in the Sultanate of Oman in the name of the Kerala Cultural Centre. The Wing can proudly say that it has been functioning in the Sultanate for over 40 years.
The Wing is now preparing to celebrate its 20years in the Sultanate in a grand way. The anniversary celebrations will be spread over a period of one year with the inaugural ceremony on 21st April 2016 followed by “SahithyaSammelan” involving all personalities honored by the Wing in the literary field since its creation, and a grand closing ceremony at the end of the year. During this period, plans call to extend maximum possible humanitarian assistance and support to society as part of the group’s social responsibility. The Wing will be organizing a “Blood Donation” campaign and “Free Medical Camp” on 15th April 2016, in co-ordination with the Ministry of Health.
Further, towards promoting the heritage and culture of India, the group will be conducting a talent hunt in art, dance, music and literary fields through thecompetitions scheduled to begin on 28th April 2016. It is expected that a large number of children and adults will take part in the contest.
The event will be formally inaugurated by Indra Mani Pandey, the honorable Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman,in the presence of Veteran Cine Actor and Guest of Honor Padmashree Madhu,Dr SatishNambiar, Chairman,and Mr Babu Rajendran, Hon. General Secretary, Indian Social Club Oman,along with high ranking dignitaries from the Government of Oman. Many distinguished guests from the business community and social organizations are also expected to participate inthe inaugural ceremony.
The Guest of Honor, Padmashree Madhu, is a veteran in the Malayalam Cine Industry. A multi-faceted personality, Shri Madhu, beside acting in over 300 movies, has demonstrated his ability and skill as a director, writer and producer. His notable role in the famous Malayalam movie Chemmeen won the President’s Gold Medal award. He is a legend in today’s Malayalam cine industry. On this occasion, it will be a privilege for the Malayalam Wing to honorPadmashree Madhu with “Atulya Pratibha Puraskaram” in recognition of his notable contribution to the Malayalam Cine Industry.
Another major attraction of the inaugural ceremony is that Dr Neena Prasad, a proponent and dance research scholar, will be performing the Mohiniyattom dance recitallive on stage. Mohiniyattam is distinct and different from other dance forms of South India, and has become famous the world over.Dr Neena is one of the graceful and expressive dancersof today. The combination of Dr Neena Prasad withlive accompaniment by vocalistsChanganacherryMadhavanNampoothiri, Mridangist - Shri Satheesan, and Veena Player – ShriMuraleekrishnan, will assure that the dance recital will be a new experience for art lovers in Muscat.
