Muscat: The National Ferries Company (NFC) carried out a high occupancy rate of 75 per cent in passenger numbers and 69 per cent in vehicle transportation, during the period from 20 to 24 November, which included the holidays on the occasions of the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the Glorious National Day.
The company’s statistics showed that NFC transported 8,098 passengers and 1,769 vehicles. It operated 61 journeys on the Shana-Masirah route, which transported 6,511 passengers with a 73 per cent occupancy rate, in addition to 1559 vehicles with a 71 per cent occupancy rate. It added that 7 journeys were operated on the Shinas-Khasab route, carrying 935 passengers, with occupancy rate of 85 per cent, and 184 vehicles with occupancy rate of 86 per cent.
The statistics added that 2 journeys were operated on the Shinas-Dibba route, transporting 134 passengers with 67 per cent occupancy and 26 vehicles with 72 per cent occupancy. The Lima-Dibba route achieved an 86 per cent passenger’s occupancy rate when the 6 journeys operated on the route transported 518 passengers.
