Oman, UK discuss ways to enhance trade and investment ties

Muscat: Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidi, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Planning (SCP) received in his office yesterday Lord Geoffrey James Dear, Deputy Speaker of the British House of Lords and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting discussed march of the existing bilateral relations between the Sultanate and the United Kingdom and means of enhancing the relations between the two friendly countries on various trade and investment fields.
The two sides also discussed means of the developing and increasing investment volume and the mechanism of the commercial arbitration centre and how to benefit from the British experience in this field and the Sultanate’s experience in privatising some government services.
It is worth mentioning that the UK comes in the top of the foreign direct investment countries in the Sultanate by the end of the second quarter of 2018 with a total investment of OMR4,735.1 million. The meeting was attended by a number of officials from the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
