First call of Mediterranean Shipping Company’s vessel received at Sohar

Sohar: Oman International Container Terminal (OICT) received the first call of the Mediterranean Shipping Company Lana vessel at the Port of Sohar.
The vessel is a regional service of the Mediterranean Shipping Company and arrived at the Oman International Container Terminal quay in the morning. It can carry 3660 TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit) and has a length of 218 metres.
The service will make a connection between the Port of Sohar; Karachi in Pakistan; and Jebel Ali and Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates on a weekly base.
Ali Al Nofli, chief operation officer of Oman International Container Terminal, presented a souvenir to the captain of the vessel. Al Nofli said that the call of Mediterranean Shipping Company’s own vessel shows that the terminal is becoming an important main line port.
“The Mediterranean Shipping Company’s line comes with its own vessel. This shows the growth in business and the importance of the Port of Sohar in Oman,” he added.
The ceremony was attended by Oman International Container Terminal’s management and Sohar Port and Industries Company officials.
