Muscat: Supported by continued foreign buying in financial sector stocks, the MSM30 Index resumed its gaining trend and closed at 3,941.21 points, up 0.57 per cent. The Sharia Index followed suit, closing higher by 0.50 per cent at 538.25 points. Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of traded volume and turnover. National Life & General Insurance, up 3.33 per cent, was the top gainer during the session. Vision Insurance, down 9.24 per cent, was the top loser.
A total number of 458 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR2.11 million with more than 10.99 million shares changing hands. Out of 29 traded stocks, 16 advanced, 3 declined and 10 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors remained as net buyers for OMR1.13 million while Omani investors were net sellers for OMR1.11 million followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR26,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,371.57 points, up 0.64 per cent. National Life & General Insurance, Ominvest, Alizz Islamic Bank, Gulf Investment Services, and Muscat Finance were up by 3.33 per cent, 2.58 per cent, 2.47 per cent, 1.82 per cent, and 1.54 per cent respectively. Vision Insurance, Bank Dhofar, and Al Madina Takaful were down by 9.24 per cent, 2.17 per cent, and 1.20 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4,626.82 points, up 0.29 per cent. Raysut Cement and Galfar Engineering were up 2.45 per cent and 1.27 per cent respectively. There were no losers from the sector.
Services Index closed at 1,973.52 points, up 0.24 per cent. Ooredoo, Omantel, and Renaissance Services were up by 1.23 per cent, 1.08 per cent, and 0.42 per cent respectively. There were no losers from the sector.
