Muscat: The Ministry of Health (MOH) warned people to not fall prey to rumours and to make sure they are getting information from the right sources about COVID-19 vaccine.
A statement issued online by MOH said: "The instructions people should follow with regard to the vaccine :
1. Initiate a quick response and go to the health institution as soon as you are notified that you are in the target group for vaccination.
2. Commitment to take the second dose of the vaccine 6-4 weeks after the first dose is taken, in order to obtain the desired effect, as one dose of the vaccine is insufficient.
3. Note that the effect of the vaccine begins 7 - 14 days after taking the second dose to obtain the desired effect, and before this period the person is still susceptible to infection and should go to the health institution for examination in case he/she gets any symptoms of the disease.
4. After taking the dose of the vaccine, the person must stay at the health institution for 30 minutes to observe and to ensure that there is no serious side effect that requires direct medical intervention such as anaphylaxis reaction.
5. Continue to adhere to other preventive measures such as hand washing, wearing masks and physical distancing after taking vaccine doses, as taking the vaccine doses does not eliminate adherence to these procedures. "
