Muscat: Heavy to moderate rain lashed Oman on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Oman Meteorology Department, which monitors weather conditions in Oman.
While residents in Muscat and its adjoining areas witnessed moderate rains, North Al Batinah, Musandam, Buraimi and Dhofar, witnessed heavy rains on Tuesday.
“Some of the roads are flooded with rain water,” residents in Sohar said.
Last Sunday itself, the Meteorology Department predicted heavy rains in the northern parts of Oman, starting today and continuing till the end of the week.
Heavy rains will be concentrated in the governorates of South and North Al Sharqiyah tomorrow, Wednesday, March 22, The Civil Aviation Authority, (CAA), said.
The CAA issued Alert No. 3, in which it indicated heavy rains in the governorates of South and North Al Sharqiyah tomorrow.
It stated that the expected impact during the alert period will be as follows:
1- The flow of reefs and valleys in some areas, accompanied by active downward winds, sometimes with hail.
2- Low horizontal visibility during thunderstorms.
3- The sea will be medium to rough, with waves on most coasts with a maximum height of 1.5 to 3 meters.
The Civil Aviation Authority called on everyone to take precautions during thunderstorms, not to cross valleys, avoid low places, and not go to the sea during the warning period.
