MUSCAT: People living in the Sultanate of Oman will have to wait till Saturday evening for moon sighting to know the exact duration of Eid holidays.
As per Royal orders, it has been decided that the Eid Al Fitr holiday 1446 AH for employees of the State’s Administrative Apparatus, other legal entities and establishments of the private sector will start on Saturday, 29 March 2025 and end as per the two following probabilities:
(A) If first day of Eid is on Sunday, 30 March 2025, the holiday ends on Tuesday 1 April 2025. Official work will resume on Wednesday, 2 April 2025.
(B) If first day of Eid is on Monday, 31 March 2025, the holiday ends on Thursday 3 April 2025. Official work will resume on Sunday, 6 April 2025.
The Ministry of Labour pointed out that employers may agree on terms to engage employees on the said holiday— if deemed necessary — provided they compensate them for the holiday.
The situation has left many struggling to finalise travel plans, family gatherings, and other celebrations.
