French government awards “National Order of The Legion of Honour” to RAO Commander
Paris: The French government has awarded Maj. Gen. Mattar Salim Al Balushi, Commander of the Royal Army of Oman (RAO), the French National Order of the Legion of Honour (Officer’s rank) during his official visit to the French Republic.
The medal was conferred on behalf of the French government by General Pierre Schill, Chief of Staff of the French Army, during a ceremony held at the French Army Headquarters, in the presence of a number of senior French Army officers and the delegation accompanying Maj. Gen. Mattar Salim Al Balushi.
The ceremony was held in recognition of Maj. Gen. Mattar Salim Al Balushi’s efforts to consolidate cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the French Republic.
The French Legion of Honour, Officer of the Order of the Legion of Honour, is one of the highest national decorations in France and is awarded to French and foreign persons.
National Order of the Legion of Honour (Rank of Officer) figures among the most prestigious French national orders of merit, conferred on French and foreign persons.
In a speech on the occasion, Maj. Gen. Mattar Salim Al Balushi expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to the French government. He hoped that military relations between the two countries would continue to grow and prosper.
An official reception ceremony was held in honour of Maj. Gen. Mattar Salim Al Balushi upon his arrival at the French Army Command Headquarters.
