
Salalah: OQ Base Industries signed several agreements and memoranda of cooperation in Dhofar Governorate on Wednesday, as part of its commitment to supporting developmental and community initiatives.
The signing ceremony was held in the presence of HH Sayyid Marwan Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar.
The agreements included a contract between the company and the Office of the Wali of Salalah to support the Resilience Hub, aimed at enhancing its role as a community and developmental hub serving various segments of society in the governorate.
The agreement was signed by Sheikh Dr. Said Humaid Al Harthy, Wali of Salalah.
This initiative reflects the company’s commitment to contributing effectively to sustainable development goals and supporting national initiatives aligned with Oman Vision 2040. The Resilience Hub in Salalah works to strengthen the resilience of infrastructure and urban systems against changes and risks, directly supporting the "Sustainable Cities" pillar of the national vision.
The agreements also covered the development project for “Ain Rob” in the Wilayat of Rakhyut, which aims to enhance the site’s tourism and natural potential and improve the visitor experience.
The project includes the construction of a 1.7-kilometre pedestrian path using natural stone, alongside four strategically distributed bridges to improve accessibility and safety while preserving the environmental and natural character of the site.
Ghosn Zaher Al Abri, Wali of Rakhyut, emphasised that the project aims to improve visitor access to “Ain Rob” and enhance safety during visits while maintaining the natural essence of the site and the surrounding area, noting that the project supports community, environmental, and tourism development in the Wilayat of Rakhyut.
Furthermore, the company signed an agreement to fund the purchase of medical devices and equipment for the Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Center at Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah.
This initiative, carried out in cooperation with the Directorate General of Health Services in Dhofar Governorate, aims to develop specialised health services and enhance the quality of medical care provided in the governorate.
In this regard, Dr. Hani Ahmed Al Qadhi, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services in Dhofar Governorate, explained that the agreement comes within the framework of strengthening community partnership and supporting the health sector. He noted that it contributes to developing specialised medical services and raising the efficiency of healthcare provided to patients, particularly in the field of cardiology and cardiac surgery, while keeping pace with community needs.
The signed agreements also included a contribution to establishing an integrated cultural centre in the Wilayat of Mirbat. The centre is intended to support cultural activity and host literary and artistic events as well as social occasions, thereby strengthening the cultural identity of the governorate and providing an integrated facility for the community.
Hamdan Hamad Al Junaibi, Wali of Mirbat, stressed that the establishment of the centre represents a qualitative addition to the cultural and social infrastructure of the wilayat.
He noted it will provide a stimulating space for developing young talent and enhancing community cohesion, supporting efforts to develop the cultural landscape and promote sustainable social development.
Hilal Abdullah Al Maamari, Director General of the Directorate General of Culture, Sports and Youth in Dhofar Governorate, pointed out that this partnership represents a model of integration between national institutions, contributing to the expansion of cultural and knowledge programmes and enhancing the presence of creativity.
Eng. Khalid Khalfan Al Asmi, CEO of OQ Base Industries, confirmed that supporting developmental, cultural, health, and social projects is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility. He noted the company's keenness to contribute to initiatives that promote comprehensive development and serve the community across various sectors.
In a speech delivered during the event, he added that the company continues to strengthen community partnerships and contribute effectively to supporting developmental initiatives in vital sectors. He added that this drive aims to achieve sustainable value for society and support the development process in the governorate, in harmony with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 toward building a prosperous and cohesive knowledge-based society.
