#ReadersResponse: With Oman recently celebrating His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said’s 47th Renaissance Day, it was a truly heart warming sight to see so many residents — locals and expats alike — heap unrestrained praise on the country’s leader, and what he’s done for the country in the 47 years of his rule. “His Majesty Sultan Qaboos has always been one of the world’s greatest leaders and has always done the best for Oman, its people, and the neighbouring countries,” said expat Michel Barati. “I have visited so many places around the world, and Oman has always been my favourite of them all.”
Syeda Fahmina Rizwan was also quick to portray His Majesty in the most positive of lights. “I have never seen a leader like him,” he recalled. “May God bless him always, because he always thinks about his nation and the country. That is why Oman is a beautiful and peaceful place. God willing, I wish to one day meet His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. All of my prayers are with him.”
With the world hailing the Sultanate as a champion of peace and friendship in the region, it is small wonder that so much of the praise the Sultan has received is because he has made Oman a paragon for non-violence and amity in the world.
“He has done all that the world could ask for this country,” exclaimed Selva Jaloukian. “He is one amongst very, very few peaceful leaders in this world. We as expats cannot comprehend the amount of modernisation that has happened in only 47 years.”
“I just hope other leaders will take this gentle soul as an example,” he added. “He is a leader, who is loved by all the locals and expats. His Majesty Sultan Qaboos is the only leader who is truly worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize.”
Shagufta Aziz had plenty of warm praise to send the way of Oman’s leader. “The most amazing thing he is doing for Oman is keeping it safe for its citizens by having a great relationship with other countries,” she revealed. “Keeping in mind the crises in other neighbouring countries, Oman has always helped them solve their differences and has always been a friendly and giving neighbour.”
“His Majesty is not only taking Oman towards development, but is taking great care towards the conservation of the environment, spreading greenery all over the country, minimising the number of high rise buildings and glass facades, as well as the construction of solar power plants, are just a few to name. Education in Oman is also shaping up well and gender equality in the workforce is a praiseworthy achievement. The kind of love and respect people of Oman and expats have for him is incredible. It’s very rare to find a ruler who is loved by all.”
Vinay Ashar was also quick to praise his wisdom: “His Majesty Sultan Qaboos is a wise and benevolent leader respected worldwide, who has made Oman into the modern country it is today while retaining some traditional values, always striving for the welfare of the Omani and expat population living in Oman, and maintaining peace in the region. May he be blessed with good health and a long life.”
