Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Oman Airport Management Company (OAMC) today hosts the 11th edition of the 2017 Airports Council International (ACI) Airport Exchange forum, which will continue until Thursday.
It will witness the participation of more than 1,500 aviation management experts from around the world.
The two-day forum will be held under the auspices of Yahya bin Saeed Al Jabri, Chairman of SEZAD and Chairman of the Board of Directors of OAMC.
The forum, which is being held at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre, is considered one of the most important gatherings on the global air transport calendar.
The ACI Airport Exchange forum is being hosted by Oman Airports Management Company to enhance the capacity of the Sultanate’s airports to serve different sectors through the exchange of knowledge and experience with some of the global experts in airport management.
The theme of the forum is ‘Leading airports towards operational excellence, profitability and customer service’ and will see presentations and workshops conducted by 120 speakers, delivered to delegates from 50 countries. Commenting on the importance of the international forum to the Sultanate, the CEO of Oman Airports Management Company, Aiman bin Ahmed Al Hosni, noted, “Hosting the 2017 ACI Airports Exchange Forum is a further step towards the implementation of the company’s 2020 strategy, 2020 strategy
“Growing gateways to beauty and opportunity”. The 2020 strategy aims to develop the performance of the Sultanate’s airports and increase its capacity to service the Tourism, Logistics and other sectors important for economic growth across the nation. In creating and operating state-of-the-art airports, OAMC will present numerous opportunities that will significantly enhance the social and economic prosperity
of Oman.”
A number of the workshops and panel discussions will focus on the four key themes of the forum, namely; Security and Crisis Management, Airport Operations, Digital Innovation & Big Data and Airport Development.

Witnessing another milestone, the event is the first global forum of its kind to be hosted by the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC).
The 2017 ACI Airport Exchange Forum will be held at the OCEC on Wednesday and Thursday from 9am to 5pm and includes a morning plenary session, two daily discussions and a number of workshops.
