Muscat: The MSM30 index continued to tread lower and closed at 4,159.94 points, down by 0.15 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 568.67 points, down 0.37 per cent. Bank Sohar was the most active in terms of volume while Oman Chlorine was the most active in terms of turnover. Al Anwar Ceramic, up 2.74 per cent, was the top gainer while the top loser was Gulf Investment Services, which lost 3.45 per cent.
A total number of 238 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR1.34 million with more than 8.20 million shares changing hands. Out of 31 traded stocks, 4 advanced, 7 declined and 20 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR147,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR2,000 while GCC and Arab investors were net sellers for OMR149,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed lower by 0.13 per cent at 6,699.45 points. National Bank of Oman was the only sector stock that closed higher on Monday, and was up by 1.11 per cent. Gulf Investment Services, Al Madina Takaful, and Bank Nizwa were down by 3.45 per cent, 1.14 per cent, and 1.12 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index was down by 0.15 per cent at 4,852.28 points. Prices of Al Anwar Ceramics, Oman Fisheries, and Oman Chlorine were up by 2.74 per cent, 1.85 per cent, and 1.27 per cent respectively. Oman Flour Mills, Galfar Engineering, and Al Maha Ceramics were down by 2.58 per cent, 1.37 per cent, and 0.56 per cent respectively.
Services Index closed with a marginal loss 0.05 per cent at 2,144.51 points. There were no gaining stocks from the sector. Omantel closed lower by 0.56 per cent.
